Daniel Jafarpouran

The Edit and Sound Store

''I now have a great work ethic, a good understanding of the post-production environment and how to act professionally all the time.”

MYP spoke to Daniel Jafarpouran and his mother Louise after he was successful in obtaining employment after completing the MYP training on season 4 who graduated in July 2013.

“My time at the Mama Youth Project was very valuable, I feel it prepared me for a career in television and what I have learned will help me throughout my entire career. The training was excellent. I learnt to edit on Avid Media Composer, how to work with others professionally and the training really pushed me to reach my full potential.  All the staff are great and feel like close friends, they really cared a lot about me and my success in the future.

The Mama Youth Project also set me up with work experience at the BBC's post-production facility. The training at Mama Youth prepared me very well for this as I now have a great work ethic, a good understanding of the post-production environment and how to act professionally all the time''

The Mama Youth Project also helped Daniel with his CV, covering letters and gave him interview practise as well as a debrief post interview so he could realise the parts he could improve on.

Daniel added: “I now have a great job at the post-production company The Edit and Sound Store which does the post-production work every week for Panorama.  I'm incredibly happy and I'm feeling very positive about the future of my career.’'

Daniel’s mum Louise tells us that his enthusiasm with the media started at a young age and he went on to complete a degree in Media, TV production and technology at Birmingham City University.

Louise added:  “Knowing the high proportion of post graduates who end up working in pubs and bars, like many other parents I was apprehensive of what the future would hold for him.  However, before the end of his final year Daniel applied to the Mama Youth Project, which he started the following day after arriving home from University!

His training at MYP secured him four weeks work experience at the BBC and I am delighted that Daniel’s now happily settled, working at a post-production company in central London. I couldn’t be prouder.

Mama Youth Project was an invaluable experience for preparing Daniel for employment in the media Industry.  Not only did the course equip him with the practical skills needed it also made Daniel develop into a thoughtful and more confident young man.  I would just like to say how grateful I am to Bob Clarke for giving Daniel this opportunity and for being a wonderful role model. I’d also like to thank all the MYP team for the emotional support and invaluable experience they have given my son.” - March 2014
